An advanced new form of visual to help you understand complexity.
The Use Case Finder is a tool for discovering how people use your website or app. It gives you the benefit of days of quant analysis at a single glance.
Via a proprietary formula, the Use Case Finder graphs the screens and actions in your software product, plotting each based on its correlation to other screens or actions and displaying them as points. The closer any two points, the more similar the user profiles of those screens or actions are.
What that means is that clusters of points are being used by the people, or by people who share the same behavior.
The original concept dates back to my work with Microsoft, when I was looking for a universal way to identify funnels for any outcome to be studied, including positive outcomes like conversions or upgrades, but also negative outcomes like abandoned carts and cancellations.
The concept never made it out of small-scale prototyping, but I recognized the potential of this approach. That led me to build the Use Case Builder.
The Use Case Finder can be used to get high-budget user research results for lower cost.
