My role

Product launch consultant, interim VP of product

Business problem

Prose is a decentralized publishing platform and social network. The company had been struggling to build their product, and were facing dwindling resources and impatient investors. The code they had already built was buggy and missing key features. They hired me to solve these problems and launch their site.

Solution

I worked with the company's founders to identify and extract their vision from what had originally been contradictory ideas and specs. I then documented a complete product that met the business goals using XenBuild, then created a roadmap to launch the product as soon as possible, which meant removing all unnecessary features and prioritizing monetization.

Outcome

Prose launched in August of 2023 without needing more investment. The company now boasts a thriving online community and positive cashflow.

I used XenBuild to build a clear picture of the product

The chaos that had preceded the re-launch of the company had resulted in a lack of understanding what functionality was actually available, or how anything worked. In order to make sense of the situation, I modeled the entire product in XenBuild and shared this file with the entire company, including the LatAm development team.

I quantified and visually tracked several variables

There was a lot to do in a short period of time with a limited monetary runway. To help prioritize work, I quantified several aspects of the product ranging from Figma documentation to Jira projects to UX issues.
